Building resilience into farming systems
Groundshift helps farmers build resilient, profitable farm systems that work with nature.
Local experience.
Global insight.
Practically applied
.
Our focus
Our work focuses on understanding the whole system and helping farmers make informed decisions that suit their land, climate, and goals.
Supporting farmers and industry with:
Whole-farm system thinking
Looking at soils, stock, inputs, water, and economics together to understand how the farm functions as a complete system.
Soil health and biological function
Building active, resilient soils that support production, cycle nutrients, and increase water holding capacity.
Lower-input, efficient farming pathways
Reducing reliance on high inputs while maintaining performance and financial viability.
Practical transition planning
Turning ideas into achievable steps that fit the farm, the people managing it, and the season.
Long-term farm resilience
Supporting systems that can handle environmental, regulatory, and economic pressure over time.
How we work
Practical thinking for long-term change
Our approach is deliberately simple and grounded in the realities of farming in Aotearoa. Working in a manner the land and farmer can sustain whilst remaining profitable.
#1
Assessment
Our Whole Farm Assessment provides a system-wide understanding of your farm by analysing soils, agronomy, finances, and goals together. We identify key opportunities and constraints, then deliver practical, prioritised recommendations to improve health, reduce inputs, and build consistent profitability.
#2
Advisory
Our specialist advisory service turns strategy into action through an ongoing technical partnership. Beginning with a Whole Farm Assessment, we provide on-farm support, education, and regular troubleshooting to guide long-term transitions. Independent, data-led advice and collaborative learning ensure your move to a biology-led, low-input system is supported and sustained.
#3
Education
Our education offering provides an independent pathway to biological agriculture, combining workshops, online learning, and farmer-to-farmer collaboration. Designed to bridge theory and practice, our programs build the skills and confidence needed to develop resilient, low-input farming systems at any stage.

about what your land is telling you?
Meet the team
Groundshift was formed in 2025 by a small group of agricultural leaders who share a belief that farmers deserve independent, practical support to navigate environmental and system change without ideology or pressure.
